Default Too much torque for my transmission?

I'm ready to buy the APR chip for my 2.7t, 5spd tip. APR says it's gonna take me to 366lb of torque. Is that too much for my 5HP19?

Much thanks

Depends on how often and how hard you drive it.

I was asking the same question on this forum when I first bought my car.. I have a tiptronic as well and was advised against any chippage due to the increased amounts of torque..These auto trannys are rated, based on a number a guy threw out there at 310 ft lb max... naturally the 6 speed is bulletproof compared to these and can handle much more. one guy told me about a tranny chip you can get to lower the torque as well. You should search the forums for this, there are enough responses on this issue to make a solid decision. (Oh and if 5hp19 is some sort of special transmission of which I’m not aware of disregard this post)

FWIW, there's no chip for the TCU to lower the torque, since that's un-possible.

There is/was a TCU firmware update from GIAC that supposedly quickens the shifts, which is/was supposed to help the Tiptronic better handle the extra torque from a chip.

There are also torque converter upgrades from Level 10 and another vendor that are supposed to increase torque-handling capacity, but those are pricey, as they're labor-intensive to install.

I was looking @ a torque converter upgrade and wondering how much the install would be. All I want stage I, that's it! I mean come on, it has two turbos... so why do I have to go through this? jk I love this car

The MT6 tranny is pretty tough, but the oem clutch is not. I chipped at 74k and had to replace the clutch and flywheel at just under 90k. Put in a stage2 to handle the extra power and a possible, eventual upgrade to K04s. The upgrade is still running fine at 155k miles.
