Default Top Radiator Hose Removal !!!

I am trying to remove my top radiator hose so that I swing my radiator and AC condenser out of the way to get to my Alternator. However my Top hose is giving me hell to remove. Everything is plastic on the radiator and I am worried about breaking something. Is there a procedure to removing it? It is attached to the Radiator with a spring clip which I have removed. And I have tried forcing the hose off with a screwdriver to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.............

Default Yes, it can be a pain, they really get seated after a while. Gently wiggle while pulling....

...straight back toward the motor. It may take a while. You'll know you're done when your hand violently slams into the hose clamp on the air intake tubing and starts bleeding profusely.

Default You do need to pull the hose, but you don't need to take the whole nose apart.

Service postion is more than enough room to get to the alternator.

Default Have you tried sliding a thin screwdriver under the hose and working it around the neck?

Effectively separating the hose from the neck.

Default Re: Top Radiator Hose Removal !!!

Thanks for the responses people. I managed to get the services of Audi Technician to my house on his way home from work. Wound up being that I didn't have to remove any of the radiator hoses at all. All you have to do is put the front cap into Service position (Loosen 6 bolts and move it out). There was enough room to loosen the 2 bolts that hold the Alternator and work it out. Disconnecting the Hot and Ground cables was kind of a pain due to tight quarters, but it was done. At any rate what a difference it makes when you know what your doing.

Default Get an attitude, it'll give up.

They stick well. I know your anxiety well. You don't want to break anything. It will twist on the radiator ever so minutely. It seams a rotation motion, stirring like a paint stick, only horizontal, combined with a horizontal twisting motion. You'll get it lose when you get pissed enough to put some real effort into it. In other words when you say f-ck this s-it I'm getting this d-mn thing lose whether I brake something or not, it'll come lose.
