Dear Readers,
Do any of you know the towing capacity of the 2.7T? I have a boat that weighs close to 3500lbs and am considering buying the 2.7T. I would like to know if it would be capable of towing it...

I don't blame them with US legal issues being what they are.
As an example, on several of the European sites the S6 (both Avant and Sedan) is rated at 750kg unbraked and 2100 kg for trailers with brakes. Thats actually a pretty significant rating. (Although its been since my college days that I've needed to convert kilograms.....I think thats about 4600 lbs)
The advice regarding turbos is definately true. Turbo engine support systems are generally not designed for the duty cycles (proportion of time under boost) that towing can cause. Oil and cooling systems are much more highly stressed on turbos under extended boost. I would still check the European sites though, as I'm sure you'll find specific numbers for the 2.7T if you look hard enough.
I notice that BMW is like that as well. Their dealers and brochures completely sidestep the towing issues where as the European sites give very clear tow specs.
