I wanted to add chip, etc to the car, but once I got out of warranty I realized that even without a chip I am likely to have expensive problems down the line (I could be wrong) but that is the perception I have.
SO I am getting rid of the car. I have been watching prices of these cars from year one, and again my perception is that depreciation is not slowing done as much as it should after the first year (expected) huge drop.....
The point is that due to my PERCEPTIONS I decided not to keep the car, and not buy another Audi for a long time. And that is a problem for Audi, since I may not be the only one with these PERCEPTIONS of reliability problems, and very expensive repairs, due to inherent problems on the 2000's 2.7T that are not addressed by Audi. (Too thin turbo oil feeding lines, TBB, etc..)
And those PERSEPTIONS (real or not) are helping drive the prices down.

And by the way, you're wrong to think all BMW dealers give BMW loaner cars. I bought two $50K Bimmers from my local dealer and they saw fit to put me in Ford Escorts or Chevy S-10s when I needed warrany work done.
I can't believe you favorably compared a Forester to a 2.7T. I'm a car nut and don't have specific brand allegiances, so I'm not going to defend Audi for the sake of defending Audi here. But I think you're way out of line. Your post here is the equivalent of me finding a Forester board and telling the participants that I'm dumping the Forester for a Kia Sorento. In fact, the Kia is a better value over the Scooby anyway. So there.
I question your motivation behind your post. I believe you purposefully stirred the pot.

No, I was not trying to stir up anything. I am excited about my new purchase, and do not see a big difference beween the cars. Obviously the Audi has more Luxury options, but that is about it.
I owned the 2.7T longer then probably most on this board (Dec 1999) And having driven the Forester - Besides the image and some luxury items these 2 cars seem similar in many ways to me. Again Handling, Acceleration, etc.
I liked this car, and it was hard to decide to get rid of it, but the Forester madi it easier.
Go drive one and compare for your self. (and no I am not a subaru dealer
