The ATF used in these transaxles isn't electrically conductive. Inside the transaxle, the terminals of each of the solenoids are open to the ATF they are bathing in and they don't short out.

Speaking of which, there are photo albums online from a transmission shop showing the various stages of disassembly of the transaxles in a 2000 A6 4.2 as well as a 2000 S8 where both V8 powered Audis employ the 5HP24A.

The A6:
Zink's Garage - RO # 17.745 - 2000 Audi A6 Quattro

The S8:
Yuki Ming Ho (UK) - RO # 17.903 - 2000 Audi S8 Quattro RH Drive

From said albums, there are some pics to note:

The solenoid harness of the A6's 5HP24A as it's installed:

The solenoid harness of the S8's 5HP24A where it has been completely removed showing the two white o-rings at the top of the image which seal the connector against the transaxle case:

Note: I'm not affiliated in any way whatsoever with the shop in question or its clients. They just happen to have an impressive collection of pictures of various makes and models of cars and trucks to look at.

However, when I searched the forums and looked at the ETKA, I've found that there are 2 o-rings on the connector that are supposed to prevent transmission fluid from leaking out. I believe the part number for those 2 identical o-rings are 01V 927 322 A (or ZF part number: 0501 209 253).

Does any one have any experience with this? Do I really need a new harness (which is almost $200), or can 2 o-rings that cost a total of less than $10 fix the leak from my transmission?

Thanks in advance!
Im actually replacing the O rings myself and no im not replacing the harness i just got the Orings from partsgeek.com the Orings need to be white those are the correct Orings
