Transmission - Incorrect Gear Ratio

Ok, my problem is not a slipping transmission. In my case regular acceleration in 'D' gives me a hard kick when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and then throws it into 'safe' mode. I noticed that the hard kick happens when it shifts at low rpm (below 2000 rpm). When I accelerate more aggressively there is no kick and the tranny works fine. The other thing is when I stop, the downshift is a little delayed from 2nd to 1st and there is a light kick with it. VCDS gives me a code that says something with incorrect gear ratio. Any Ideas? I'll check if the solenoids open as they should with VCDS.
