Transmission problems
I have a 2000 A6 2.7t 6spd manual. Im pretty sure my 2nd gear is shot. I was taking off in second and as the car started to move it kicked it back to neutral. Now when I put it into 2nd it does nothing. Ive looked everywhere for somewhere to buy a new transmission. And all i can find is a $650 rebuild kit. Is this my only option? From what i have found there arent many 6sp manual tranny a6s.

Before you condemn the transmission, make sure that the linkage has not come loose. It sounds like a gear selection problem more than a stripped gear problem.
As for manual tranny A6 C5 cars, I happen to have three at this point, through a combination of luck and a dislike of the ZF automatic trans.
