Default Transmission Shift Issue after Fluid Change

I have a 2003 3.0 with the 5sp auto. I changed the fluid stopping at all the steps along the way, i.e. car level. New filter, temp correct, start up and run thru geals and top off.

The car has issues when pulling up to a stop, where the transmissions seems to stay engaged. It kills the engine at times.

Any thoughts.

Guessing it's a ZF. OK, since someone spoke the secret on the other forum, I'll ask: did you put the filler plug back in without shutting off the engine????

If you shut the engine off after you've done the fill, row the gears, etc, before the temp reaches 40C you'll undefill the trans.

Concur.
Recheck fluid level at correct temp, look for codes, check TC operation.

Or if you fill it with the engine not running at all...
