Default Triptronic Transmission Question 2003 4.2........

Recently changed my oil and noticed a oil leak around the transmission. Good reason to do your own maintenance. I brought it to the dealer, still under warranty, turns out the transmission oil pan gasket is leaking. Had to special order the part??? Question is since they have to drain tranny fluid would it be worth having the system flushed and replaced with synthetic. How crucial is it to remove all dyno oil? Any recommendations on synthetic oil and capacities for replacement.
Thanks.

Halfway through, this question took a 90 degree turn without slowing down. I fell out.

Default OK, so it wasnt just me then.

In short, you have.

A. Transmission Fluid.

B. Oil, synthetic or dino.

If your transmission Fluid is being changed, leave it alone.

Get an oil change and use synthetic the next time you need an oil change.

There is no such thing as Syntetic and Dino Transmission Oil.

Sounds like they are replaceing the transmission fluid pan and gasket, and if this is the case, they will take care of the transmission fluid.

No need to flush anything.

"Good Reason to do your own maintenance"? Looks like you better leave it to the Pros!

Default Tranny fluid is synthetic. if you added anything else, you could have disaster brewing.

1. Yes, good that you caught the leak.
2. The fluid is already synthetic. These tranny are very fussy abotu what fluid can be used. ONLY use the Audi OE or the ESSO fluid that they re-package
3. Service it every 30-50k
4. if you put anthing other than the Audi OEM fluid in, you have a big problem on your hands.
5. The fluid must be topped off with the fluid at operating temp - this means on a lift, in gear, running, just before lvel check.

Default Huh? The Esso LT-blah is clearly labeled synthetic ATF.

Check the Esso (europe) or ZF sites.

What makes you think ATF cannot have synthetically created components to it? Part of it is, after oil, a lubricant.
