Trunk light wire problems?

My trunk light will only come on when the trunk is JUST opened but as soon as you start to swing it upwards the light will flick off. It probably stays on like the first five or ten degrees the trunk lid is opened and then it's off. If I lower the lid it'll click back on but it's so hard to tell if it's a switch or bad wire or what because there's only about an inch of room to look into the trunk it has to be so low for it to be on. It use to stay open to about 20 or 30 degrees but an Audi "tech" (stupid stealership) banged it around with his hand while he was trying to figure out if it would be an "easy" fix or not and instead of it flashing on or anything it just got WORSE to where he had to keep lower it more and more to get it to flick on.
I have an extended warranty that I hope would cover this but I still have to pay $100 per time it's in the shop so this needs to be a decent amount to have fixed... plus I'm broke so $100 still hurts. I don't use the truck often so it's not too much of a pain but I'm wondering if anyone's had the problem before or if anyone knows if the wiring is in the trunk lid with a switch or in the base somewhere or what. Thanks!
