I cleared the DTC's and ran all the readiness test except the O2 sensor test and the catalytic converter test, i couldn't get those to run but last time i cleared everything they passed in a couple miles of driving, im about to go drive for a while to get these to pass and see if the codes come back one more time.
At the moment i also have a misfire on cylinder 4 Im hoping is a spark plug, it doesn't misfire enough to cause a code to come up but i found it misfires randomly while i was wondering around though the measuring blocks. Im going to put new plugs in the whole thing this weekend.
Ill post back my results after this drive, I think one of the codes(Charge Pressure) was from yesterday i got a little happy on the freeway and forgot i shouldn't be flooring it at the moment, damn gti's always think they are so cool....

Before about a month ago the only codes i ever got were random misfire codes. When i floor it and the RPMS reach 6k+ it will misfire on cylinders 1, 3, & 5, thats bank 1? i believe? Anyway, i was thinking thats something to do with the cam chain tensioner or the track the chain rides on might be cracked or worn. BUT thats not the problem ATM, right now i just need to pass emissions, ill handle that when i tackle the Timing belt sometime soon. So i first noticed the Fuel trim codes a week or so ago, so i cleaned my MAF and put a new air filter in, a dry generic filter, there was a K&N filter in it, i suspect thats why my MAF was covered in crap. Could i have messed it up cleaning it? Im aout to order a new one online since Audi wants 245 for one.

Thanks for the help, bout time i got vag and did some work my self to the car.

There are others here who can be more helpful, but I'd first think it through without spending $$--I'm cheap! Why suspect the tensioner for a misfire on 1,3, and 5? It could be, but I'd suspect electrical/ignition first. If I recall, the whole bank is on one ignition module (the little "pucks" on top of the air intake)--swap with the other bank and see if it changes over.

With these codes, I'm not sure which are the direct cause and which are secondary symptoms, but if both EGTs are open they didn't die together--sounds like a wiring problem, a bad ground, loose connector, etc. Anybody know if the EGT can affect fuel trim? Or conversely, can the fuel mix being off drive the EGT readings off-scale? My bet's on the former, because an open or shorted sensor implies it's not reading anything like reality.

Have you done any work recently, besides cleaning the MAF and doing the air filter? Any wire harness demates?

Default Found torn Y boot

I knew i had an air leak also somewhere, my y boot was of coarse torn, im going to get a bipipe i think, any suggestions?

Im also going to order all new o2 sensors as they are probably close to dead anyway and my MPG is crap. Im hoping i dont need new EGT sensors so ill hold off on those.

I just had a bunch of recall work done last year and i thought they replaced my ICM's, coil packs and evap thing, im looking for the records to see exactly what they did and not go by memory. OH BTW wer the F are the damn ICM's on the 04 2.7t????? I looked all over and can't find them. They should be on top of the air box??? BUT they are not, not on the side, not by the o2 sensor harness's, WERE?!?!?! lol please and thank you.

Any other suggestions on things to add to my cart????

Default Also no on the recent work

I had some work to the suspension and stuff before last winter, Cv boots, tir rods, alignment, and what not. I was side swiped pretty hard but those codes hadn't ever shown until just recently, i check quite often and only ever have misfires. I suspect the ICM's but i can't find them, i know were they should be but maybe the 2004 A6 2.7t TIP is in a different spot then the previous years or the audi dealership moved it??? Anyway im confused about there location, its funny and sad at the same time.

I have a constant misfire on cylinder 4 i never knew about until i got vag com, its random and doesn't throw the CEL, im going to get all new plugs *** i dont think they were changed when the coil packs were. Hopefully that solves that

Default pretty sure i have the BEL engine sooooooo

Sooo that means i have no ICM's..... well they're incorporated into the coil packs. So, hmmm i know i just had ALL 6 packs replaced at the stealership at the beginning of this year. What would be giving me this random misfire? Tomorrow morning ill move coil packs and see if that helps, also im sure new plugs wouldn't hurt either .

Ok, so what should i do? I fixed the TBB and my idle is a little better, bounces a little less between 680/720. BUT im still getting these EGT codes, constanly. I can pull over clear them and the EGT 1 comes back very quick and the second follows but takes a little longer, Is this the car working though the drive cycle? I checked the EGT's connections and they look fine, connected, not dirty. Heres my latest scans, the first is from this morning while i let the car sit and idle for 10-15 min while i was inside forgetting i started the car to leave, threw a bunch of codes. Second if after i cleared and drove and did a couple errands, i still need to go drive more to complete all the readiness checks. I would like to avoid replacing my EGT's as my city is eliminating emission next year. BUT if it would help my horrible 14-16 MPG(all in town, avg speed is usually 15mph) i get i would think about it. anyway heres the scan
