Turbo Question No Boost One Turbo Bad Smoke
I pulled my engine out this past weekend after I had no boost reading on my gauge, smoke coming out of the driver side pipe, and a dentist drill noise. After pulling it out I can confirm that the driver side turbo has excess shaft play so that turbo is blown. But the passenger side turbo does seem to be okay. But why would my gauge read 0 lbs of boost then? It reads vacuum but when you put it under load it it doesn't boost at all. IF one turbo is good wouldn't it still read some boost? Any help is appreciated. It is a 2002 Audi A6 2.7t, I replaced the turbos 7,000 miles ago, I think i got a faulty turbo and thats why it blew so early. But am not sure on why it doesn't read any boost??

Could it be because any pressure developed by the good turbo is simply bled off at the bad turbo and blown back through the air filter?
