Default TURBO TIMERS - WHO USES THEM?

New A6 owner here with a question. Do most people here use Turbo Timers and if so any particualr brand/model best suited for the A6 2.7?

Am I considered lazy cuz I don't want to sit with my car til it cools down?

Thanks

Default This is a must have for you turbo guys.

My old turbo would glow sooo bright you could see it orange in the day time under a shadow. That was nothing compared to this guys 1.8T.

I had one setting at 1min and another at 3min for hard driving. One day I sat and watched to see how long it would take before the turbo stopped glowing. In 40deg weather it took about a minute after a nice hard drive.

I used a GReddy TT. Many other Audi driver's use it as well. They all pretty much work the same...wiring will be the issue. Perhaps they make a harness?

Default Wasn't there a poor man's turbo timer

you opened the door and after a minute the interior light automatically goes off.

Default why?

guess you've never seen a clogged oil line from oil that sat too long in a hot turbo or heat scores on the cartridge and shaft due to lack of lubrication during the next startup

Default No I have not? I would need to see more info....

...before I made a decision. I would think that if was so important I would think car companies would utilize it in their cars.

Maybe I am naive but this cost would get tagged on them most often.

Default Yes, Audi made all the perfect decisions when making our cars...

Are you kidding me? So many things on this car could have been so much better from the factory if they had spent a few more dollars.

Maybe when you've replaced a few turbos you'll feel differently on the subject, but I've replace the coolant after-run sensor to the lower temperature one, and the turbo timer is going in as soon as we get to it (blitz DTTX)
