Default Turbo 'whoosh' thank you and follow up question

Thank you for all your replies; this has always been a very helpful forum. I had posted a question regarding a potential turbo issue a few posts below. I posted this as a new thread only to get attention for a follow up question.

The 'whoosh' when under boost is brief and noticable when throttle let off, but only on an intermittent basis. As mentioned earlier, the is no noticble power loss.

It sounds like from 2006 A6 2.7t 6m' reply below that this may be a diverter valve problem.
Any idea what i am looking at in terms of cost. Dealer normally charges approx $120/- for ' one hour diagnostics'. Thanks again for all the help.

Default they cost roughly 50-60$ a piece (you need two), and you can DIY if you want

remove the front most engine cover closest to the grille. They are staring you in the eye... you can secure them yourself with a screwdriver + clamps or you can have the dealer probably charge one to two hours for it.

Default There are a few articles related to this in the tech section

by pass valve or diverter valve, two names for the same thing. Easy to change, just need a screw driver. I upgraded mine ot the 710N which is an upgraded version used on the TT 225hp. ECS tuning has these for $45 each. Just search their site for 710N. I replaced a few vaccuum lines that looked rough while I was in there as well. Just some hose from the local parts store and a few small hose clamps.

Default I use Forge DVs, no problems so far, and tunable to PSI, also..

If your DVs are shot, the sound is more like a duck quack
