....<begin rant>
So I brought my A6 in for it's 60K service today, an appointment I had to schedule nearly 3 weeks ago since they are so "backed up." I had called around to a few dealerships since it was apparent that even though Audi has an idea of what should be done to a 4.2 @ 60K, each dealer had a different idea of how much it should cost.
<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/493907.phtml">My initial research on costs....</a>
Clair Audi (my closest service location) offered me the lowest price...about $280 since it was a "minor service." The person on the phone went over a list of the services they perform, and I agreed. Fast forward to this morning when I bring in my car and they tell me that it's not $280 but $440.
Um....come again?
The service tech (who is a good guy, just doing his job) asked me if I had spoken to a woman when I got the initial quote, and I replied that I had. He then told me that I should have asked for a service tech since she is apparently not good with price quotes.
Umm....come again again?
It's MY bad for not assuming that the woman quoting me specific prices and details for a service on my 4.2 didn't know what she was talking about???
Adding a little more insult to injury, the service was quoted as taking 4 hours...meaning that I needed to clear some patients from my schedule this morning. When I brought it in, the tech told me that it would be only 2 hours or less. Ugh...that would have made a difference in my planning for the day.
The upshot of all of this is that the car is in the shop now getting work done, and I'm waiting to hear back from the service manager about my complaints. I really couldn't just pull out and take it elsewhere this late in the game, so I'm feeling a little held over the coals here.
Thanks for listening. </end rant>

Yeah, Audi service does seem to stink for the most part -- there are these ongoing innocent gaffes from moronic service peeps. My car has only 28K miles on it, and I don't look forward to the day when the warranty is finally over and done ... I can't even imagine how high the pucker factor would be if I had turbos ... But you just have to roll with the punches (or buy Japanese -- now that they make an AWD Acura, I will be tempted ...).
What's funny per your post is, I have a 4.2, an IceLink and the exact same wristwatch -- interesting how demographics work.

...but there are a few notable exceptions. Panerai seems to draw in a lot of folks that might otherwise not be too into watches.
In case I haven't made it clear, I'm a BIG Panerai fan.

I asked said woman if she was an advisor, to which she replied no. I wonder why she is answering calls in their dept. when they are busy. VMB would be more efficient.
Panera bread comes to mind with those watches, AW loves those things. If you guys are looking for a wholesaler, some guy on Ferrarichat is from Watertown and has deals.
