Default Unable to remove flat tire from rear hub

I ran over a screw sometime last week. I noticed the next day when the tire was flat and the car has been sitting for a week.

I tried changing the tire today. I removed the 5 lug nuts, but am unable to get the tire to come off hub. There shouldn't be anything holding the wheel on. But with all of my effort I am unable to budge the wheel. I even inadvertently dropped the car on it (the jack come out with one of my frustrated kicks).

The tires were change about 18 months ago by a VW dealer. Is it possible some adhesive was attached?

Any suggestions?

Default Do this: loosen the lug nuts just a bit (maybe 1 turn). Drive your car slowly in a circle (best

bet is in a deserted parking lot) to put some sideways pressure on the wheel. This should loosen the wheel.

Before re-installing the wheel, put some grease on the hub where it makes contact with the wheel. No more issues!

Tried without any luck. The lug nuts were extremely loose as well.

Maybe you don't need the lug bolts.

Apparently I do not, which would be convenient if the tire wasn't flat

Default Disimilar metals fused...always install a thin layer of syn brake grease

on rotor when changing tires. I've had good luck with sitting on the ground in front of the tire and kicking the bottom of the rim two to three times...it will come. Make sure the rim surface is clean and you wear sneakers. Good luck!

Default I called AAA, the magical tool missing from the toolkit was a rusty hammer

A few good blows on the back and she popped right off.

Any grease will do, but de rust the rotor face and hub locating diameter first.
