Default Upgrade questions...

I have C5 with 2.7T w/ Tiptronic @ 80K, since Ive bought the car two months ago Ive: changed Surp and Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, valve seal, fuel filter, vac hoses, plugs, replaced OEM air filter with K&N (removed excess oil from filter), full synthethic Mobil 1 0W40, APR ECU 93octane flash. (oh yeah, cant forget the pollen filter, which was CLOGGED with leaves and dirt). The car is running beautifully, no codes. Am I forgetting anything to look at or replace for regular maintenance, also thinking of snub mount, bipipe and diverter valve upgrade. Is the bipipe upgrade necessary with the tiptronic? Do seem to feel much lag at all between gears (except from 1st to 2nd).

Default Bipipe and diverter valves won't effect tubo lag or Tip...

What they will do is eliminate 2 of the most frequent sources of boost leaks. If you plan on chipping, consider an upgraded Throttle Body Boot (TBB) and DVs as essential.

Common TBB replacements are the Samco silicone, AMS kevlar wrapped, and APR bipipe. After having an AMS TBB fail on me at the worst possible time - track day under full boost, I replaced it with the bipipe. The bipipe, IMO, is bullet-proof.

The diaphram in the stock DVs is known to fail. Common replacements are Bosch 710Ns which look like the stock unit or aftermarket such as Hyperboost. Lots of testing and experience seem to indicate that the 710Ns are more than sufficient. If you want added security, go aftermarket.

HTH

Default My car has been APR flashed 93oct. So...

if I go with the APR bipipe and R1 diverter valves, I wont need to replace a TBB? Does the APR bipipe completely remove the TBB. And after reading other threads I assume pulling off the throttle body for cleaning is in good order as well.

Default So the APR bipipe does replace the TBB...

How long do I normally have until I start to have a leak after its been chipped, obviously Im working the turbo harder now. Is this is something that I should take to an aftermarket shop to work on or can I DIY? (Ive done a fair amount of my own work on other cars (mostly domestic).

Default Several thoughts...

- predicting when a boost leak will occur is probably beyond most of us. That said, given the potentialy dire consequences of a boost leak, my advice is to replace the stock TBB ASAP. Other opinions may differ. I tend to error on the conservative side
- I think the bipipe is a reasonable DIY. Do a search, much has been posted about it
- IMO, the APR R1 DVs are overkill and overpriced. For the price of 1 R1, you can buy 2 Hyperboost valves. Again, opinions may differ.

Default NGP in MD/NVA says the Bipipe wont always fit on the A6...

...since it was designed for the S4, aparently there are slight difference in the production of the engine. Gonna go with the upgraded Bosch Diverter Valves, reinforced TBB and a set of downpipes for now. THinking about goin to BFI in NC for the work, great bunch of guys and reasonable labor costs.
