Default upgrading (plus size)to 18' wheels, anyone offer help in determining the size I need?

I currently have the factory 5-spoke 17(.5) rims on my 2003 A6 2.7t and would like to change them (plus size?)to 18" wheels than buy new tires. Can someone please help me with figuring out the exact size 18" wheels to fit my car?

The rims I like are at (http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Audi-Whee...64839-2-1.html)

I just need to see if they will fit on my car and if I need to change anything like suspension, springs, etc. to allow for the increase in size from 17 to 18.

thanks a lot for the help.
Joe

The offset is correct; the wheels ought to fit. I dont believe the exta 1/4" on the inside will interfere with anything. Of course you need to select the appropriate tire to maintain overall diameter and circumference. And deal with the ride, weight and susceptibility to damage.

I would not go to 18s.

those wheels will fit perfectly.

call tire rack to get specific fitment info, but I would expect 235 (or 245) 45-18 will be the right size

Sure. Cadillac had a Biarritz package too. Doesn't mean its always a good idea.

I *said* why. Heavier. Worse ride. Suceptible to damage.

Trade-off: bling; brake clearance.

Aside from RS6, what 04 had 18s, btw?

The RS6 *had* to.

All s-line 2004 C5 a6's came with 18" wheels

BTW - A8's can option to an 19.

It is important to have a few "contrarians" on any forum, but it would help if you had more than a passing knowledge of the automobiles

It makes little difference what automobile we are discussing. The simple facts remain the same. All things equal, 18" wheels will be heavier, which is both more unsprung and rotating mass. They will have less sidewall. They will have less load rating. These facts are not debatable. Their significance to any one individual is debatable.

Not to mention most people who track these cars heavily seem to prefer 17s.

I rarely correlate knowledge with knowing each marketing package created by Audi. When knowing marketing ins and outs qualifies as knowledge, i hoep to practice ignorance.

I agree. It's math, plain and simple. Big heavy wheels sell cars, but light, strong wheels make car enjoyable to drive.
