Upper control arm / ball joint wear?

While replacing a CV boot I find one upper control arm ball joint that seems kinda loose.
I have searched the forum and upper control arm problems seem to be common. Of those who have had trouble, did most of the trouble come from the rubber bushings near the spring mount, or from the ball joints at the end of the control arms? Are the ball joints replaceable, or is an entire arm required?
Thanks for the help.

and everyone has problmes with the outer balljoint parts. They just wear out over time, due to the boot tearing and grease falling out, or just bad grease to begine with.
Some of us have experimented with ways of getting new grease in the joints, from using a syringe and needle to injecct it into the boot, to putting a grease fitting on the joint itself (I have done both, they both work fine.)
If you are having a problem with the inner bushing, there is not much you can to to reapir, the only solution is to replace. If the outer joint is really loose, I would replace it as well.

since they would probably wear out soon too? That way youd pay less for labor than replacing one by one... Or is it possible that some of the joints outlast the others significantly?
