US licence plate screw size?

US licence plate screw size?
I would like to know the screw size of the licence plate? I would like to mount the plate only w/o any frame. So it should be pretty short. Thanks.

Reverse FRAME Plate
On my A8, I reversed the FRAME TRIM PLATE. This allows the screws to be used and still have a frameless look. I prefer this since the license plate could scratch the license plate area.
My understanding is that the screws provided by Audi do allow for frameless installs - it's the dealers that switch them. Either ask for the original screws or reverse the plate as I did.
