Default Used A6 Advice

Hi,
Sorry if this has been beaten to death but I'm posting a question for a friend of mine that needs an answer realtively quickly. I know nothing of the "new" Audi's so I'm no help to him. He's looking at a 1999 A6(2.8l, quattro, automatic) with 175,000km and an asking price of CAN $12,995. The car LOOKS in great shape and the price seems decent to me. Just curious as to anything he should keep an eye out for (other than regular scheduled maintenance, t-belt etc)and if this price seems reasonable?

Thanks,

John

Default RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN

$12.995 is WAAAYYY to high for that many miles/km on that car.
But it also depends where youre located.

OK thanks...Eastern Canada.
Just so there's no mix-up, that's about US$11,300 and 105,000 miles.

Cheers,

John

Default Yeah, way overpriced...

I bought the same car (a wagon though) for $11,500US with 70,000 miles 14 months ago.

I'd say the one you are asking about is worth $9,000US on a good day..

The depreciation on these cars is SEVERE despite what they have to offer as an automobile. I guess not many choose to afford the maintenance once the warranty runs out.

I'm looking forward to the days of nice & affordable S4 Avants

109k miles @ US$11k...a little high, but not outrageously so if it's in decent shape.

It's at a used lot so he's hoping that he could negotiate down to maybe US$ 9800-10,000. Outward appearances are great...one penny-sized rock chip with surface rust inside one fender well..other than that cosmetically perfect.

Any specific mechanical/electrical issues with the '99 A6 he should have a look out for though?
