Default UUC Short Shifter Question

I just installed a UUC short shifter in my 2.7T, and it's been great, but a couple of thing bug me about it. In shifting into 2nd and 3rd, there seems to be a slight pop before the gear engages, I feel the same pop sometimes when downshifting to 3rd or 2nd. It almost feels like it wants to come apart. There is also a lot of fore and aft play in neutral (which I did not notice with the stock shifter). Is this normal or could it be an install issue? Thanks in advance.

Default Re: UUC Short Shifter Question

I put in a UUC short shifter but after a short time, got rid of it and went back to stock. I was not happy with the "notchyness" and adjustment was a royal pain. I was not happy that the short shifter reduced the fore-aft distance to shift, but the left-right difference did not appear to be reduced. Made the shifting process feel strange. I also took it out because of the shift-*** difference between the 2001 and 2002 model years, and a UUC for the 02 was not available at that time.

After putting it in myself, I had a shop reinstall my original. The shop indicated that it really takes a lot of time to adjust these things just right. They install these every day, and it took them about 1 hour just to adjust the original to where it was shifting perfectly.

Most people who install the short shifter seem to like them, but I've read many stories about adjustment problems. I'd be willing to bet that yours simply needs some fine tuning so that it shifts better. Good luck.

Default You might need to adjust the way the shifter sits Port to Starbord

When the shift lever is in "Neutral" it should be slightly (5 Degrees) tilted to the passenger side. This will help smooth the 2nd to 3rd transition. Please call us @ 908-874-9092 if we can help.

http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/</a
