Default vag-com code on my 02

So here is another question on this A6 I bought a few weeks ago.

Car in question is a 02 A6 3.0 tip/quattro with 116K on the clock.

So when I bought this car it had a check eng. light. I scanned it over with vag-com, and cleared all codes. There were alot with the alarm system. NO trans codes, and a few eng codes. Now car had just recently had a new battery installed, figured this might have todo with the alarm codes.

Anyhow, I cleared all codes, after logging them. Drove the car 200 miles and check eng ligght came back on. Figured ahh now I can start some diagnostics, and have a better foundation to work with.

Codes that came up on the eng. are
16805- Warm up catalyst;Bank 1 : efficiency below threshold.
......P0421-001-- Upper limit exceeded-MIL ON

16815- Warm up catalyst;Bank 2 : efficiency below threshold.
......P0431-001--Upper limit exceeded-MIL ON

What are these codes showing.. I Dont have a shop manual yet, Had some unexpected bills. But should have a manual in a week or two..

Thank you in advance. James K.

Needs cats. You might get around it by installing anti-fowlers on the rear O2's.

IIRC they are spacers for spark plugs that can be used on rear O2 sensors to pull them out of the exhaust flow a bit thereby not picking up as much O2. Makes your ecu think your cats are still doing their job. Goggle anti-foulers and you'll get the idea real quick. I have similar codes on the '01 and have looked into this. Similar codes but not the same because no pre-cats on the 2.8?

Default thank you guys.

Well I'll have to google it.

I was on theway home tonight and had a short spell of low power tonight.
there was a spudder/miss or lack of fuel, not sure which. Came home scanned the car with my Vag-Com Hex+Can. Got the following , some are new and were notthere the last 2 scans.

Anyone care to take a crack at the engine codes and the 1119 in the ABS codes. I will be ordering the repair manual this weekend. But need to get a idea where I stand on this car. Another thing that gets me going is the radio codes. I just replaced this radio with one of ECS's units, So I would assume there should be no codes for it. Last 2 scans there were NO radio codes.

On the way to work this morning, there was a vibration, almost like something was stuck rubbing on one of the front tires.Pulled overchecked things over, all was well. I continued to work and figured maybe it was a chunk of ice from the wheel well making contact with the wheel. Now on the way home I was starting to speed up a little (70 up to 75 or so). I felt a slight loss of power, and check eng. light began to flash. then went solid. So get it home and scan away, above is what I got.I did check ross-tech's wiki page of codes. But unfortunatly without the repair manual, im kinda going at it blind.

I bought this car knowing it needed some work, the price was right and I cant really complain. But without the Bently, I cant do much. Plus being a beginner with Vag-com and not knowing all its capabilitys...Well lets just say it make for a big handicap..But I am learning as I go.
