Very strange "race" last night-->
on the way home from work, I had to take a detour to avoid some significant road construction on my regular route home.
I made a U-turn at an jughandle, and then gave it a little throttle and sccoted down the road. At the traffic light where I made the u-turn was a guy in an Impala SS, who immediately ran up my back bumper when the light turned green. This guy then pulled alongside me at the next light. On green, he took off, tires squealing and I proceeded along normally behind him. We were both going the same way, and the road turned to one lane each way. He continued to blast off from 20-50 mph in front of me. I kept saying "car sounds nice" to myself, and then, sounds like a stick-shift, hmmm.
When we were aroung the detour, he was making a left turn onto another divided 4 lane highway, he was in front of me. He made the turn, pulled into the right hand lane, and was running about 20 mph, when I pulled to his left (expecting him to throw down) he nails it. I, just shifting into 2nd gear, do the same. I quickly pulled a car and a half on him, by my upshift to 3rd gear at 60 mph, he was a good 2 cars back, and gave up. I slowed down to the legal 50 mph limit, expecting him to pull alongside and perhaps give it a go. Truth be told, I thought his car was super-nice, and wanted to talk to him. But even at the next traffic light, he stayed just behind my back bumper. He stayed there for the next mile and then turned off.
Maybe he was miffed at being burned by a stock looking Audi. His car sounded nice though, must've been converted to stick the way he moved out.
Not that I'm thinking of buying one, but for some reason I like those luxo-barges.

I bet you he did the same thing with a 2.8 or stock 2.7T and won...
...but of course, this time he was unaware of your killer KO4/Giac combo. Tail between his legs...nice job!

I made a post about th impala SS I drove a few weeks ago, pretty, but SLOOOW
plus, no navi option, the seats aren't as comfy, they sound OK, but yeah, handling and acceleration on them suck compared to a stock C5. no shift-o-matic mode either. it'd make a decent daily driver, but not what I'd consider an SS by any means.

This was one of the late 90's ones. I don't even know what power they made
don't even know why I like them. It was burgundy, maybe that's why.

I've always kind of liked those, too.
From a quick search...
A stock 1996 Impala SS came with a 5.7 Liter LT1 V8 - 260 horsepower and 330 lb.-ft. of torque. It ran a 15.4 second quarter mile, and did 0-60 mph in 7.2

I make fun of a coworker because he drives a "brown" car....
with white interior...yeah, it's burgundy, but it looks like a friggin swiss cake roll, besides, I gotta have something about everyone to pick on
