Default Vibration

I am getting a slight vibration in the sterring wheel at 50-55 mph even after getting the wheels balanced. The tech did say that both the left front and rear wheels were very slightly bent , but that they balanced out fine.

Am I looking at an alignment issue or what?

Default It's gotta be the shoes! J/K, though I had a vibration after balancing with my old Yoko tires...

after getting new tires, vibration gone.
You have new tires though right?
I talked the the guy that sold you your car at University the other day.

Default Common misapprehension is that balanced wheels must give a smooth ride

Think about it - you could balance square wheels just fine, wouldn't give you a smooth ride though.

If the tech noticed that the wheels were slightly bent thats probably the culprit. You could try (before buying new rims):

Swapping front with rear - might make it un-noticable

Is spare an alloy? If so try using that to replace a front one.

Default Yep, new tires.

Road force balanced. Guess I'll just have to keep above 60.

Default If you have a couple of bent wheels you'll feel it. The S6 is sensitive and I solved mine via good

tires. Michelin tires to be exact. Pirelli's wouldn't cure my woes but the Michelin's did.

These cars are so sensitive that even loosening and re-torquing the lug nuts will cause the vibs to return. My suggestion is to get known round wheels with good tires on them. And get them balanced via a Hunter road-force machine.

When you torque them, make sure that you hand tighten them first with the wheel up in the air, then torque them after you have the car's full weight on the wheels.

G'luck, I've done tons of investigating with this issue and my past posts will prove it
