Ok, exact for that start-up flat-spot on the tires vibration...which goes away in a mile or two...
I guess the moon, planets, and sun aligned in just the right way...that finally, after multiple attempts, multiple sets of tires and wheels, and multiple visits to the dealer (not always specific to the vibration), the S6 is finally free of the shakes. It was never obtrusive (except most recently when Goodyear screwed up the balance of my RS 6 wheels incredibly badly)...but always there...I felt it, the wife didn't (which was important)...now calm...and steady (like the GTI
...it feels like I'm driving the 'beast' again after so long of finding it somewhat annoying at times... ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The combination of a road-force balance done properly, a 4-wheel alignment done properly (and free under warranty), and brand new wheels and tires, have resulted in the right mix...ahh, my faith in Audi has been restored...and I really want the S3 to show soon so I can have a fun Audi for myself to supplement the LR3...
Perhaps this has happened because FINALLY, after 3 years of monthy $1700 payments, the beast is ours!!! I thought things usually got worse after one finally owns the car!

that is until I buy new ones...I'm replacing the oddly worn 2 tires with Pilot Sports and questionably going to replace the 2 brand new ones with the same, or see how they feel when mixed with the Michelins...I can't see giving Goodyear any more money given how bad the F1s suck (2 bubbled sidewalls in 3000 miles without any trauma...replaced under warranty...but they still suck)...
The PZero Neros work well enough for how hard the car is driven...

set to get those but I couldn't get them for a few weeks... things work out for the best sometimes.

In my case it was the tie-rod ends done at 48,700 miles that seemed to tighten everything up. The ends had probably -blanked- the bed at 15,000 miles when my engine was replaced and the suspension was hanging loose for a couple of weeks.
I'm now on my 16"-ers and snow tires and there is a small vibration around 70mph but I have not had these suckers balanced in 3 years. As you said, "the beast" is back.
I'll be looking at a new set of 17" tires - and perhaps rims - in the spring.
