It was a Hunter 9700 that they used on my wheels. Although he seemed to know what he was doing, I'm not certain he tried every test available on the machine. I could see he was testing for force-variance, run-out and balance - he also used the little measuring wheel on the left side of my wheel but not the measuring wheel on the right side.
In any case, I still get a slight vibration at 60-65 mph. I'm not sure what to do next - try another Hunter 9700 somewhere else?

There are 2 different types of rollers to measure the rim run-out. One type measures the run-out on the outside edge of the rim and the other measures it on the inside edge where the tire "seats" on the rim. The most accurate in terms of solving these types of problems would be to measure it on the rims "seat" before the tire is mounted. But the techs very rarely do that. It's a fair amount of extra work to do the mounting and unmounting of the rims and tires to do it correctly. And some technicians are more conscientious, meticulous and better trained than others.
VERY VERY good point snagitseven!!
