Default Water deflector not doing its job

The water deflector which is found right at the bottom of the windshield is suppose to block water from seeping under the hood.

The piece is shown here:

Well, mine isn't doing its job.

Apparently, the water deflector on the driver side is tightly attached to whatever it is sitting on, but it is hanging loose on the passenger side. By that I mean there is a visible gap between the windshield and the water deflector. I checked under the hood for potential 'water hazard' problem and saw that the pollen filter was soaking wet and a small room right next to the drain below the filter had a puddle of water.

Now, I tried to push the water deflector on the passenger side back to its appropriate piece, but it wouldn't sit.

How is the deflector attached to whatever it is sitting on? I'm guessing there is somekind of adhesive in between, but I'm not sure. Does your deflector easily move from its stationary position when you force it with your finger/hand?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Default I had the same issue and in a very heavy thunder storm last summer in France, I had.....

some water make it into the passenger side footwell.

I put cleasr silicone sealant under it after cleaning the whole area, but it has worked free again.

I beleive it is supposed to clip onto a plastic ledge which protrudes just below the base of the windscreen glass. It is a part not shown in your diagram but it fits under the bottom edge of the glass.

there should not be standing water in there. verify the drain isn't clogged with debris.

Default Had the problem a while back you need to check

the three clips that hold down the plastic bit closest to the window. Here's an old reference picture. Sometimes when the car is serviced to replace the pollen filter it the clips are missed or missing.

Default I had the same exact problem

Despite the fact that I had the 3 metal clips holding it down, the contour of the deflector was not the same as the window. Consequently, water would drip on the pollen filter and enter passenger cabin. I decided to fix it ASAP because did not want to get the carpet wet on the passenger side. Tranny's computer is near there and did not want to cause any problems.

What I did is this: I went to auto store and got a tube of high strength clear silicone adhesive (Permatex). Then, I removed the shroud, cleaned the window and shroud with alcohol. Then I applied silicone to the lip of the shroud (made a nice bead) and re-assembled. To make sure that the shroud is pressed against the window, I placed many college textbooks on the plastic piece (now I know what these books are good for ;-). After few hours I removed them but left the whole assembly overnight to cure. If some glue oozed out, I trimmed it with xacto knife the next day. No more leaks and the shroud is perfectly attached to the windshield.
I do not know what caused it to warp, but maybe the prolonged exposure to sun, age, etc. I hope that the method works for you.

Default is the deflector held down by adhesive originally? or..

is it just clipped down? because the driver side is firmly held down for me, and I am not sure whether to force it out (if it is held down by adhesive).

Otherwise, your method sounds great!
Thanks!

Default Its held down by clips. You should see some metal clips in the

corners and philips screw heads on the piece itself
