Default Water Leak in 2001 A6

When my car is parked outside in a heavy rain, water leaks into the passenger footwell. It seems to come from underneath the dash, and only happens when the rain is very heavy. Has anyone had this problem? I need to have this addressed when I take my car in for the fuel sender recall.
Thanks!

Hi Scott

Had a week ago a similar effect while in a car wash - water spilled in at passenger side.

The car went for the 60'000 km-service (38'000 mi) to the dealer anyways and the tech diagnosed that simply the "water drain" in the air system was clogged with small leafs. Easy to clean!

My brand new A6 4.2 was flooded during the first rain. Dealer knew the problem as soon as I described it over the phone. Aparently, there is an A/C (drain?) hose that is threaded through a small hole near the passenger firewall. If the hose gets kinked in that hole during production, rain water cannot exit and spills into the psgr floor. Problem was fixed in no time and hasn't been a problem since.

Good luck.

Default In most cars, the air conditioner condensation drain has nothing to do with rain....

These are probably two separate issues, no? I've had an AC drain come loose in an older Mazda, so the hose was draining in the footwell. But rain water follows, probably, a different hose from around the windshield or wipers down to below the car.

Still, as long as the dealership knows how to fix it.
