****UPDATE*****

My Indy did the swap and I watched....wow, what a horrendous PITA job. Luckily they were able to knock it out in about 3 hours. I think if I had attempted to do this myself it wouldn't taken all weekend.

Anyways, car runs great now but I did notice that at idle with the A/C on the voltmeter would go down to close 12 volt mark but when applying gas i.e. driving the voltmeter would climb back up toward the next hash mark....13-14volts? My Indy said that's normal operation.....I guess I never noticed that before.

Cleared all codes but my airbag light keeps coming back. More investigation on my part.

That is normal for the voltage drop. AC fans running and drawing power with a slow spinning alternator that has a hard time keeping up.

I've had my A4 sitting at a stoplight at night with headlights on, AC running, and the SAI kicked on. Needle dropped below 12v for a bit. Came right back when revved.

I've done this job many times. I don't think it's a terribly bad job, just time-consuming. If a timing belt service is almost due, I combine the two jobs.

That's a good idea. My indie did my TB replacement too about 5 yrs ago and I'll have him do it again in about another 20-30k miles. TB kit from blauparts FTW!
