Default Weird thing on the way home:I was accelerating hard the the CEL flashed quickly...

then went off and stayed off. Any ideas what this could be??? I have a 4.2 not turbos or anything like that. O2 sensor was replaced about 2 weeks ago. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Was it CEL or was it the yellow ESP light? Otherwise, get a vag and check codes.

Now you got me thinking it may have been the ESP light. What would that be.

Flashing CEL=misfire. Check plugs

No it was definately the CEL My car does not have an ESP light

I just had the plugs changed not even a year ago. Could it be a coil pack??

As DonP noted, VAG-COM the car...could be a coil pack

Default Agreed. Misfire. Check Vag-com. Mine ended up with ECM replacement.

injector drivers were fried on one bank.

One thing you might try is a manual run to 7K rpm in first or second gear...mine threw flashing CEL between 6 and 7K rpm but only in manual. About an hour later the CEL went on and stayed on.

The ECM is an 8/80 emissions replacement so my S6's ECM was a freebie. This time....

I know stephen. I just thought I wanted to keep the car. I hope what ever it is won't cost $$$$
