wet rear floor area
I googled issue of water in the rear passanger seat area and found considerable information relating to Audi and Volkswagen passat. Of major concern is damage to the eletrical system and computer damage. Costly to fix and may occur again if the leak is not fixed. It seems to be a recurring issue which has not been addressed by our German automakers and points to a serious design flaw.
I found the battery holder on my 03 4.2 full of water which I hope would explain my problem and which was given by members of this great forum as a possibility. Do I have to remove the battery to get at the drain to clear it. Is it simply a matter of removing the battery clearing the drain and putting the battery back. I have a bad feeling it may not be that simple Thank all very much.

pull the battery & clear the drain. If the water goes away, then it's probly fixed
that's the extent of the fix that I've seen in past threads, anyway. Keep an eye on it for a few weeks just to be sure.
Oh another tip I saw...don't park under trees that shed small leaves or helicopters. If regular buildup is unavoidable, then make it part of your regular maint. and/or washing routine.
