Default What a difference a few thousand miles make- '03 2.7 loaner....

Just dropped off my allroad for service. Got an '03 A6 2.7 loaner with 3700 miles on it.

I had this car as a loaner a few months back when it only had 700 miles on it and was unimpressed.
Now with 3700 miles, it is an entirely different car- much quicker and more responsive. Though the Continental tires a getting noisy already, and the digital radio display on the dash is already half faded away.

Amazing how it takes German car engines a few thousand miles to loosen up and run right.

Default True.

It took almost 10K before the V8 really sounded like was completely broken in.

Default yeah, all cars are like that. correction, all combustion engine cars are.

suprised they were giving out a loaner that wasn't fully broken in (700 miles?). Sorry to hear your audi is in the shop again so soon. Nice allroad by the way.

Default My car opened up nicely at about 15k-17k

but had been extremely babied by its prior owner for the 1st 12.5k miles, so I am sure it would have "opened-up" sooner if I had the car from its inception.

According to the butt dyno, my 2002 A4 3.0 found a significant increase in hp at exactly 4k miles. Apparently, and this may be complete bs, the software detunes the car for the early miles. I swear, I parked it after coming home from work at 4001 miles, and the next day on the way to work I wondered whose car it was. The difference was that significant.
Here's hoping the 2.7t will have a similar discovery of power.

Default my car has 88,xxx miles on it

It posts faster accelerations times now than what the 2000 literature quotes. It also still makes more power than originally quoted too.
