What does my audi keep in memory?

A couple of months ago a "Low Coolant" indicator came on briefly on my A6 and disappeared in a few seconds. The coolant was indeed low and I added some distilled water. I also got scared and bought extended warranty (wear and tear) 2 weeks later. They inspected the car and did not find any problem with it.
A few days ago I had an oil change and my independent mechanic found what appeared to be coolant residue and suspected water pump leak. I got a second opinion confirming the suspicion from another mechanic.
Obviously the water pump is supposed to be covered by the extended warranty. Is it possible though that they can recover error code associated with "Low Coolant" message from the car's memory, figure out that it happened prior to activation of extended warranty (based on milege) and deny my claim based on it?

Given the poor performance of the water pumps in these cars, it would be VERY iffy to try and claim that a low coolant warning, which was remedied immediately, is the culprit and cause of the component failure.
Of course, they're all weasels and will probably try to screw you anyway.

Appreciate the responses, but my main question went unanswered. I was wondering whether the fact that there was a low coolant warning at a specific date and/or mileage is stored in the car's memory. Does anybody know that?

in there. To the best of my knowledge, there is no long term data that is unclearable. Disconnecting the battery (you will have to recode the stereo) might also clear the codes, but I'm not sure.
