What does a rattling turbo waste gate sound like?

What does a rattling turbo waste gate sound like?
There is a sound coming from underneath the passenger side of my car that sounds like a rattling "s" sound that is constant and intermittant if that makes sense...and it only happens at low rpms and is really bad accelerating on an uphill. Could this be a rattling waste gate or something else...like a vacuum/boost leak?

Unless....
the car is performing badly then I doubt you are getting that sound from the engine. Might be a harmonic rattle coming from something loose under the car or maybe a transmission issue.

Wastegate rattle: A metallic rattle while "blipping" the accellerator 800-2000 rpm.
I replaced the entire turbo assembly (wastegate "flapper" gone!) on my '98 A4 1.8 this summer with a used '01 ko3 sport. Not fun. Good Luck...
