What happens if I wait too long to get the timing belt replaced?

I believe the 32V V8s are only interference on the exhaust side
bad part being that those 16 valves are sodium filled and expensive! that, and the head and pistons get trashed usually. 3k for a rebuild. I don't know anyone who has broken a belt on a 40V engine yet.
