Unfortunately, the car that I saw in PA had a frame damage so I just walked away from it.
However, I went to a certain dealership in NY today and they had both 02 and 03 A6 2.7T with sport pkg.
One thing that I've noticed on the 03 was that it doesn't have the steering-wheel attached tiptronic on it while 02 did.
Also although 03 had a sport pkg it doesn't have the bbs wheels like 02 does. So I'm just waiting for someone to tell me the major difference(s) between them.
I will be buying either one of them tomorrow...

PS: both cars are in great condition with clean carfax, every option except nav, and also same mileage. if you were me, what would you shoot for?

I believe that between 01 and 02 the A6 got a fair amount heavier for body stiffness and sound absorbing reasons. I think the carriers for the front hubs also were redesigned to be lighter between 01 and 02. I doubt that you would notice much with any of these changes.

that the passenger seat memory got dropped as well. I believe everything else was the same, other than the sport wheels and the tiptronic buttons on the steering wheel that you already mentioned.

2 different sport wheel packages. Summer tires got the bbs, A/S got the 5 spokes you see in my sig.

IIRC, HPGL2 calipers started in 2000 and ran thru 2001. Deleted in '02.
