What is a normal RPM range when the car is in "Drive" ? Audi A6 4.2?

Default What is a normal RPM range when the car is in "Drive" ? Audi A6 4.2?
Few days ago I realized that when the car is in stationary and in "Drive" position the engine is @500 RPM which seems a bit too low because I can sense a slight vibration from the engine. When I put the car in neutral the RPMs go up to ~650... is that normal? I've had the car for few months now and if I recall right it wasn't like that when I first got it. The RPMs were steady @ ~650 when in drive and neutral..

i noticed that audis are used to go under 1000 rpm when still, even the new audis.emissions rule???

My car does that too. It occasionally does it in Drive as well.
