$250 for springs, $400 for shocks =$650 + $300 for install = $950. About right?

Rear sway bars are the same. Many have upgraded to the PSK bar on avants, right?

Install plus alignment will be $400 to $600 at least. If you add shipping/tax try $300 springs. $500 shocks

Default I measure the rear bar as 0.710", probably 18mm plus paint.

Which I think makes it the same as the sport package. I think we went down this road when the S6 first came out and decided that the bars were the same but the springs and shocks were different.

Default Either one; as long as the shock part is adjustable; they are the cause for the floaty ride

Usually floating ride comes from soft shock rebound; You could stiffen up the springs that will stiffen up the initial compact but the rebound will still be soft with stock.

Some idiot mention anti-sway bar; they will help you stay flat during corning but do little to reduce the floatyness. You car should ride harder than then S6 already with current set up.

It seemed like you are a hardcore for stiff ride and flat corning; I found my non-sport with Eibach already stiff enough not to consider stiffer shocks. But for you, you may need the coil-over with variety of adjustment. Because the race version of H&R with Koni race shocks are very very stiff and usually only done for weekend track racers and way too stiff; so if you want best of both world get coil over or just add Koni shocks
