Default Any major brand that has sufficient octane and the propper additives is fine. Most brands that you

see are not neccessarily refined by that brand. Usually, gas stations are independant retailers. Each of the brands you see don't have refineries in all areas so many times when you buy brand ABC you're getting gas from XYZ. What you see is not always what you get.

Stu B, why would you use that? Correct me if you know anything different (maybe it has some great additive for injectors, etc.), but when you go over the octane requirement of an engine, there is no benefit to using the higher octane and priced fuel. Years ago, many regular and mid grades did not have the same detergents or additives, so to keep fuel injectors clean one was at times "forced" to fill up with premium when the engine did not require the octane. BTW isn't Av-Gas rated by the RON method rather than the R+M divided by 2 which is roughly 5 points lower than the equivalent RON (this is how gasoline octane is figured in most other countries ie. 98 in Europe is = to 93 here in the US).

Default pablo1: it was humor :-)

Although I used to run 100 octane racing fuel in my Lotus Cortina twin-cam at roughly $5.00 per gallon!

Default Knowing little of the chemistry, but when...

our 99 Saab 9-5 Wagon started emitting a fairly strong sulfer smell the Saab dealer recommended changing gas brands before a cat. converter replacement. Believe it or not they stated Amoco and Mobil were of similar formulae and that we ought to switch to Shell first?!

After the excellent explanation you gave on the quattro system I really didn't believe you wouldn't know. But then again maybe you had some trick under your hood you weren't sharing with us.
