Default Wheel alignement question- front or front and rear wheels?

Just mounted four new Conti Extreme contact wheels, first impression smooth and quiet:&gt

Audi service tech recomended front and rear wheel alignment for $160. Do I need a rear alignment or am I throwing $$$ away?
Any other place in the metrowest, MA area or Nashua area where I can get a cheaper but good quality alignment?

thanks

Default The key to alignment needs is tire wear. Any unusual wear patterns

on your old tires? How long ago since the last alignment?

A quattro takes a 4-wheel alignment. Touch base with your regional forum for leads to dealers or independents that do a good job at a reasonable price. $160 might be "par" for a dealer, but most good indy shops can do it for less. The key is the person actually doing the alignment.

Default A four wheel align is the way to go but only if needed.

If your old tires wore evenly, the car tracks straight while driving and breaking I'd skip it.

Default Hmmm...I don't know about you Porsche drivers, but us Audi drivers

try not to break our cars when braking!...

Gotta keep you in line here!

Cheers,

the other Pete

Default Its nto 2 separate jobs (more)

a 4-wheel alignment first aligns the thrust line of the car, THEN aligns all 4 wheel to that line. It is truly better - almost required IMNSHO.

A good indie should do it for $75-100 depending on local rates. I pay about $80 here in low-cost Morris County NJ. $160 is a bit pricey.
