Default Wheel offset between C4 100/A6 and C5 A6

Howdy. I have some OEM wineglass 16x7" rims (from a newer model) on my 1992 100 Avant fronttrac. They have an offset of 45mm on them. Is this a correct offset for a 1998 and up A6? I have done some thread searching and seen many answers, so I am curious what the definitive one is.

I am looking at getting a 1998-2002 A6 Avant 2.5 TDi in the next year, so I want to know if any or all of my current wheels will fit this car properly. I have several sets of rims now (15x6" steelies with 45mm offset, 16x7 45mm wineglass and 17x8 ET38 which tramline like a bitch).

Thanks!<ul><li><a href="http://www.hembrook.com/automotive/audi/100/index.html">My 100 page</a></li></ul>

Do you have a 2.7T or 2.8? Cause I went through hell trying to get wheels that will fit over my 2.7T's massive front callipars, finally ended up using spacers and now I have vibration problems (but I digress!). I thing, if I remember correctly, the 45mm offset is correct.

Default I will be looking for a 2.5 TDI which AFAIK uses the standard calipers

I don't think the 2.5 TDIs use the HP2 calipers. So 45mm offset will work on a standard suspension? Thanks!

I believe that it should, with the large of an offset you may get the wheels/tires sticking out slightly (which I think looks nice).
