Default Where to find the air inlet hose (accordion behind MAF)-->

whilst removing it to change the coolant temp sensor, I noticed that I had a small hole in mine. The hole is almost directly in line with the plastic Y-pipe, and is almost completely on the y-pipe side (so no real air should be sucked in). I grabbed my black silicone sealant and plugged the hole from the inside out, then put on a nice thick coat from the outside also.
The Dealer wants $60 for this piece of plastic. Does anyone else make a replacement hose, or does anyone know the diameter of this hose so I can attempt to replace it with a smoother, sexier piece.

Default call me crazy....

but it's probably cheaper to just buy the correct part from the dealer. Unless, of course, you normally make $5/hour and have lots of extra time.

And I definitely wouldn't put silicone sealant on the INSIDE of the tube where it can be sucked into the engine when it eventually loses its grip. That's just not a good idea at all.

Cheers,

especially since silicone is not burned by the engine, and will damage O2 sensors..

Default From the way this is described, I doubt the silicone would...

come free or do any real harm if it were to go through the engine. The only real possibility of damage is if it got stuck behind one of the inlet valves, held it open and caused the valve to be hit by the piston.
