Where to start with 2001 A6 2.7T brake replacement

4D4 mostly said it well. I would ask "why do all the rotors unless they are worn?" however. I can get 3 pad changes to a set of rotors. I pretty much agree with everything else.
As to bleeding - its not that hard IF you buy a $50 motive pressure bleeder. This not only makes it easier, but much safer. There is almost no way to get air into a pressurized system. Also get a good flank drive line wrench so you dont round your bleeding nipples.
I cant say if its too hard for you. You have to be willing to spend a lot of time the first time. Once you have done it once, its really quite easy. I was on track yesterday and cooked my brakes, so i'll have it apart just to look. First time, OTOH, it was a project of "how does this connector come apart?", and "how do i gain access to those pesky caliper bolts?"

LOL I'm pretty sure 4Driver4 answered all my other questions just so he could give this particular one! But seriously, I really appreciate everyone's input. I will stop clogging up the board with all my questions on such a seemingly easy procedure. Thanks again guys!

lol Grant i just broke my connector the other day, it fell off while i was driveing and for dirty. ive been driveing with my low pad light on for a week or so. i mught just hard wire it and not worry about it.

Be sure you get the right rotors. They are different on the 2.7.
When replacing the rotors, you don't have to remove the calipers. Just remove one bolt and swing them out of the way a bit. The old rotor will slip out without too much trouble and the new rotor will slip back in the same way. Sometimes the bolts are REALLY stuck and are kind of a pain to get to. I wish I had taken a few pics or a video, but all in all, it's a pretty simple procedure. If you opt for just the pads, it's a no brainer. Spring mounted and they slip right in. Expect some squealing when they're new. It WILL eventually quiet down.
