Default Your "basic spring/mass/damper vibrational analysis" is less than accurate! "critcal damping is....

one overshoot." Wrong!
Suspensions have two damping degrees. In Bump direction they are normally under damped, just enough to prevent bump stop contact. In Rebound they should be critically damped, meaning that the unsprung weight returns to zero velocity at SRH in the shortest possible time.

Default Yes, I saw the "!", but you use that in all your posts...

I thought you probably meant "Taller? When <u>is that</u> a measure of tread width<u>?</U>", but I guess that would preclude the use of your beloved exclamation mark.

Read the posts in sequence before jumping in, conversations evolve...

Audi42LV8: "Its 3 tires are 225/50 and one in the front is 255/40..."

Me: "The 225's are almost a full inch taller than the 255."

I wasn't guessing about the sidewall height, and it's clear we were talking about tires.

Sorry, missed Audi42LV8`s inclusion of side wall height.

Default No problem...

it's been a slow Sunday anyway. BTW, keep those exclamation points coming, I actually enjoy your "put them in their place style". It keeps things lively 'round here.

Default I'm OK with the occasional curmudgeonly comment, but I also think you have more

knowledge to offer vs. your common stance of naysaying what others have posted. My sense is you've done more on cars than most of us here and we could benefit from a proactive sharing of that knowledge, or at least you offer an alternate view of things.

Just my $.02 - and not that you asked. Flame away.
