Whirring/Siren sound fixed - replaced air compressor for A/C
FYI - I recently experienced a loud siren/whirring sound when I turned on the A/C or Defroster - I noticed few others had the same problem.
I thought it may be the fan that turns on when the A/C is on; but the dealer discovered it was the A/C compressor. It was replaced today (under warranty).
It appears they needed to remove the front bumper, etc.. to access the compressor.
Other than this - I've had zero problems (car has 25K miles);also, the dealer (Royal Motors - San Francisco) has been fantastic.

Have a screech on our A4 that happens briefly on/after acceleration, thought it was turbo, but...
... appears to be the AC clutch kicking back in. Upon hard acceleration, it cuts out to provide more power. Then, when you let up, the clutch grabs and, if worn, can make a brief screeching sound. Perhaps if it is more worn it can screech longer?
