Default Very few. And fewer still of those meet both ACEA A3 and VW 501/2/5

When synthetic was 4:1 more costly I got the trade off.

but given that regular oil prices are approaching $3-3.50/qt, and you can get good synthetic at $4.50 - $6/qt, why would you put the inferior stuff in?

Want to save money? Consider Shell Rotella-T 5W40 synthetic at wall-mart for <$20/gallon.

Designed for heavy trucks, btu great specs.

That's not bad. I'd need to buy a full 2 gallons though ; )

Default All the specs are excellent

pour, flash points; viscosity at high and low temps, and VI (very important). In fact almost identical to the highly regarded ELF excellium 5W40. Just shy of Mobil1 0W40 (which has the best specs on paper I've ever seen)

Supposedly a cheaper group 3 base stock, btu still performing very well.

hgih level of anti-wear additives (like all truck oils).

amusing to see no ACEA, but rather cummins, Volvo, mack, Detroit and MIl approvals :-)

Default Use it in lots of things

It's got more ZDDP than gasoline-engine oils, so it's especially good for flat-tappet Detroit V8s and other engines with highly-stressed sliding bits inside.

EPA wants 120K cat-life warranty and EP additives like ZDDP poison cats if the engine burns much oil so they're pressuring oil mfrs to take out the EP additives.

Some feel the Mobil1 0W-40 shears down and loses viscosity too quickly.
