who's removed the fan without chopsticks? How'd you do it?

Default I took a piece of 1/4" x 1" aluminum bar stock and....

drilled two holes after cutting to the right length. One hole I bolted to a mounting hole on the block (don't remember which, but it was over to the right of the fan), and the other I secured with a rolled pin (you can use a short bolt, too) to the fan pulley housing. The bar keeps the pulley from turning as I wrenched the fan off. Remember its reverse threaded.

Agreed. Taking the bumper off is no big deal at all.
