Default Yes...they are HID...

But maybe just yellow'd with age. They are certainly more "white" than sylvania silver star, but just not as a white as a lot of competing HIDs I see out there...

Default Cuz the yellow one's are better and produce less glare. Audi only put yellow on the A8's...

up until a few years ago. The Yellow bulb is better and more expensive than the blue bulb from Audi. I don't have any links but this has been beaten to death in the past on AW.

Better than the 4300K, how about a 5000K?

Default Re: Why does audi use yellowish xenons? blue bad in rain

Yellow (or less blue)light scatters less in the rain, so you see better. That's why fog lights are sometimes offered in yellow and I wish my audi had yellow lenses.

If yellow scattered more the sky would be yellow.

Scatter is not technically the right term but gets the idea across.

IIRC, 4300 is standard and kinda yellow, 5400 is sun temp, 6000 is slightly blue.

acutally, you are 100% wrong. xenon bulbs color shift with age and become more blue/purple
