Why don't all 4.2 wheels fit 2.7 with HP2s, caliper clearance only

2000 and 2001 4.2's only IIRC

Hmmm..interesting...the things you learn on AW. So are the 16.7mm and 22.7mm rotors interchangeable?

Ahh didn't know that.

I thought only the 2.7t's and the S4/S6 got those brakes.

I would think you'd also have to change the caliper mounting bracket

To move the caliper into the right position to grab on the different offset disk. Just speculation though.

17x8 or 17x8.5?

I always thought the pie plates were 17*x8.5" runnnig 255 40 17 stock but I'm not sure. If its 8.0" then I have more choices on the wheels to upgrade to. I'll have to check on the cliper cleance according to this post. wonder which ones i have on my 2000 a6 4.2...
